Two charged with second degree murder following stabbing in Ottawa’s east end

The Ottawa Police Homicide Unit has charged two adults in connection to the stabbing death of 25-year-old Omar Jonathan Grant.

The incident occurred on Feb. 15. Police received a call shortly after 9:25 p.m. from the 500 block of St. Laurent Boulevard. They found Grant who was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Jacob Blanchard, 25, appeared in court Monday morning charged with second degree murder and assault with a weapon. He was remanded into custody awaiting a hearing.

A warrant has also been issued for the arrest of 25-year-old Samuel Laurin-Gauvreau for second-degree murder and assault with a weapon.
