Driver caught going almost double the limit on Hwy. 417 while impaired

An Ottawa driver is facing multiple charges related to speed and impairment after being stopped on Highway 417 Friday.
Ottawa OPP stopped the driver shortly after 8 a.m. after clocking a speed of 193 km/h. Police say the driver had also been drinking and registered three times the legal limit.
The 42-year-old Ottawa resident now faces the following charges:
- Dangerous Operation;
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs;
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus);
- Mischief • Stunt Driving • Speeding – 50+km/h over the posted speed limit; and
- Improper Use of High Occupancy Vehicle Lane.
The driver had their license suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days.
