70-year-old charged with first-degree murder in downtown stabbing

First-degree murder charges were laid against a 70-year-old man in a stabbing that happened in Ottawa’s downtown core.
A person was found by emergency responders with life-threatening injuries on Thursday evening.
Police are not releasing many details because next of kin has not been told; however, they said they were called around Rideau Street and Colonel By Drive at 5:35 p.m.
There, the person was found and transported to hospital where they died of their injuries.
Yves Brisebois is facing the offences in connection with the case.
Officers may remain while the investigation continues.

The man who was stabbed to death is the city’s fourth murder of the year, and third fatal stabbing.
