Quebec Student Protests

MONTREAL – Despite scattered showers thousands of people marched through the streets of Montreal this afternoon to voice their anger with the Charest government.
Quebecers young and old joined students at the protest, which was of a festive nature.
It featured music and dancing and had only a small police presence.
The march comes after talks over tuition fees broke down on Thursday and many at the protest said Premier Jean Charest didn’t negotiate in good faith.
The demonstration was organized by the hardline student association CLASSE.
Gabrielle Nadeau-Dubois, a spokesman for the group, says they will continue to protest through the summer even if it means disrupting the tourist season.
Another protest is scheduled in Montreal tonight – for the 40th night in a row.
